5G Lab

Goal

5G Lab is an interdisciplinary team with more than 500 researchers and aims to deliver key technologies for enabling 5G. The 5G Holistic Testbed consists of several connected test-beds which enable holistic research approaches for areas from silicon, wireless, networks, edge clouds and applications. The 5G Physical Layer test-bed consists of a core hardware platform with four NI PXI units and several USRP-RIOs, spectrum analyzers, channel emulator, networking hardware, which enable test and evaluation of novel physical layer schemes, in indoor as well as outdoor environments. The 5G Network layer test-bed consists of 150 meshed mobile devices (e.g. smartphones, drones, mobile robots) with a research focus on networking coding to enhance meshed, multi-hop, multi-path and secure communication. Several 5G tactile application test-beds are also used.
